New Streetlites for the 219!

On the first day of June, London General retained the contract for route 219 with new buses to replace the old LDPs. Instead of ordering Enviro200s, London General decided to place an order for the new Wright Streetlite for route 219 (along with newly-gained route 491), this time in the door-forward variant unlike those on the 462.

Route 219 starts at Clapham Junction and heads across and down to Tooting Bec Station, where it follows the Northern Line past Tooting Broadway, Colliers Wood and South Wimbledon (Merton) before making the short leg up to Wimbledon Station in Wimbledon.

The new buses are different to the normal Enviro200 buses we are used to seeing on the City's Streets, but they are a welcome change. They do of course have the same Cummins engine, but hooked up to a Voith gearbox rather than an Allison.
