New Plans Overground

Keeping you up to date with what's on the rails too is our new aim. London Overground has been a successful project, since it's start in 2007. Ever since, it has been in the top 5 best rail operators in a survey carried out by Which? and has seen TfL buying out more and more lines. Here is the latest plans, explained in a brief post below, but will be explained in more detail in a post in May or June this year.

London Overground Class 378 226, seen at West Hampstead on a 4-car
service to Stratford.

There are plans for the existing lines. As you may know, the London Overground fleet at the moment consists of mainly 4-car Class 378 models. These 4-cars will be raised to 5 cars later this year or early next year due to the increasing capacity on all lines.

Also, an order for approximately 35 or slightly above trains will be placed soon as right now there is a bid for train manufacturers such as Alstom and Bombardier to make new electric trains on a new contract. 9 of these trains will be sent to the Gospel Oak - Barking Line to electrify the line and release the diesel multiple units (DMU) class 172s to be sold to other operators in the UK. These trains will still be maintained at Willesden Junction Railway Depot.

London Overground has already confirmed that it will take over 4 lines on the 31st May 2015, all of which are operated by Greater Anglia.

3 of these services will operate out of Liverpool Street station, and will continue stations to Chesthunt via Seven Sisters, Enfield Town and Chingford calling at these stations below which will add an extra 25 stations, with 23 managed by TfL. The other two, Chesthunt and Liverpool Street will be managed still be Network Rail.
