Know Your Routes: Route E11
SK07 HLV approaches Ealing Broadway. |
Route E11 is a recent addition to Ealing's 'E-line' network that replaced part of the E10 and provides links to Castle Bar Park, Studland Road and West Ealing.
The route runs between Greenford Broadway and Ealing Common, Warwick Dene. The route replaced the former E10 section between Ealing Broadway and Ealing Common then continues to Greenford. The Ealing Common terminus is actually on the end of a "Hail & Ride" section which from there, the route climbs back up to The Mall, heads towards Ealing Broadway, passes West Ealing, zooms through Drayton Manor and wonders around Studland Road estate before terminating at Greenford Broadway, the main hub for all 'E-line' routes, except the E8.
The route must use 8.9m single-decks as the roads in Drayton Manor/Castle Bar Psark are very tight and unsuitable for such longer vehicles.
The route was operated by Transdev London before being taken over by developing company, NCP-Challanger who also ran routes 272 and 440 from the current garage we know as "Park Royal" coded as PK. The route is operated by SDE's, using 8.9m Enviro 200's.
In 2009, NSL Buses was bought back by Transdev, so the route was a homecoming to the company. Now Transdev is London United, although Transdev still run smaller operations in Harrow and Edgware such as route 13, Harrow's "H-line" network (All routes except H12, H18 and H19).
The buses were recoded from ADS into SDE and are now in the forms of SDE11 to SDE17. So here's the fleetlist.
The fleetlist:
SK07 HLM - SDE11
SK07 HLN - SDE12
SK07 HLO - SDE13
SK07 HLP - SDE14
SK07 HLR - SDE15
SK07 HLU - SDE16
SK07 HLV - SDE17
