Know Your Routes: Bring the Newbies on to 52: Part 2
The Newer Buses;
The Diesels:
Metroline ordered 15 Volvo B9TL/Wright Gemini 2's following the retention of the 52 contract. They are built to WTA (Whole Type Approval) with no rear lights on the top deck (I preferred it when they did have lights) and orange lighting across the body with new CCTV screens throughout the vehicle.
Bus drivers are currently learning how to drive these and engineers as well are learning how to repair the bus if it breaks down. You may have noticed this is the reason VW1388 has not entered service Holloway to add to the growing family of VW's.
Most of these have arrived at Willesden (AC) however there are still some vehicles such as VW1403 which are at Heysham Docks awaiting to be delivered.
Here are the fleet numbers:
VW1393 - LK62 DUU
VW1394 - LK62 DVB
VW1395 - LK62 DVC
VW1396 - LK62 DVF
VW1397 - LK62 DVG
VW1398 - LK62 DVH
VW1399 - LK62 DVJ
VW1400 - LK62 DVL
VW1401 - LK62 DVO
VW1402 - LK62 DVP
VW1403 - LK62 DVR - At Heysham Docks
VW1404 - LK62 DVU
VW1405 - LK62 DVV
VW1406 - LK62 DVX
VW1407 - LK62 DVZ
The Hybrid-Side to it:
Nope, not quite finished. As most new TFL contracts are retained, if they run in busy areas, such as the 52 does, the route will need hybrids. 11 hybrid equivalents were bought with the 14 VW's totalling up to 25 vehicles being bought. The hybrid vehicles are slightly longer and are on a Volvo B5LH Chassis, which Metroline must of been fans of, as they bought out the cheque book once again right after hearing that they won back the 24.
This is the second batch of the Volvo B5LH in Metrolines fleet. These vehicles are classed as "VWH" in the fleet system. Like the diesels, most are at Willesden and should enter service very shortly although some are hanging around Heysham Docks prior to being delivered.
Anyways, here's the fleet numbers:
VWH1408 - LK62 DWA
VWH1409 - LK62 DWD
VWH1410 - LK62 DWE
VWH1411 - LK62 DWF
VWH1412 - LK62 DWJ
VWH1413 - LK62 DWM
VWH1414 - LK62 DWO

VWH1416 - LK62 DWV
VWH1417 - LK62 DWY
VWH1418 - LK62 DXF
VWH1419 - LK62 DXG

As you did ask for my route to be featured, then I'll leave the comment of the 111, 120 and N9?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment, I will try and get some pictures. Although N9 might not be able to be featured although I will try but I have a feeling N9 won't be able to be featured as it runs late at night. Although 111 and 120, I can feature them. :)
DeleteWell, N9 does run into the early part of the morning - it runs until 0802 on Sundays (at Heathrow Terminal 5), and rarely, I get it to school. But then again, it is a night route. The 111 (along with the N9) are my favourite routes, which is why I'd like it featured. 120 is just because they got the new ADEs - an upgrade from the VP/VA(/TA)/SP it used to have.
