Know Your Routes: Bring The Hybrids On To Route 27!

A brief summary...

On 10 November 2012, route 27's contract was retained with London United. On the same day, it was extended westbound from its former Turnham Green terminus to Chiswick, Business Park. This extension was suppose to happen 3 years back but due to funding problems it was delayed.

Anyhow, 27's contract was retained with London United and they ordered 18 Alexander Dennis Enviro 400 Hybrids as it is a relatively congested route. Also as an addition, 2 existing Hybrids from route 482 (Heathrow Terminal 5-Southall Broadway) were included as part of 27's new contract.

So What Happened?

During the course of November, the two Tridents were made redundant for use on the 482 now making it a fully N230UD/Scania Omnicity allocation. These 2 Tridents were part of a trial back in 2008 when the 482 was then new. These trials proved successful and since have been coming to London in large numbers.

Although the vehicles wasn't suppose to make an appearance until Febuary 2013. Putting ADH1 & ADH2 in service in November would be too early so instead they were put on the only double-deck hybrid route other than the 482, London United put them on the 94(Piccadilly Circus-Acton Green) which is allocated ADH3 - 22.

This week, ADH1 & ADH2 were transferred from Shepherds Bush (S) and transferred to their new permanent home, Stamford Brook (V) where they will find new life on route 27. They are now being put in service and can be spotted commonly!

What's happening now?

The remaining Tridents (numbered ADH23-51) are to be delivered by the end of this month/ beginning of next month and will come into service once the iBus and Wayfarer Machine have been installed. These vehicles have the new Civic Esteban seats with the new London United seat design . They will also feature black headlights.

Hopefully, they will knock out the Omnidekkas as quickly as possible as I really do hate them!
