Bus News: 7th August 2013

Having a bit of free time right now at the end of the school academic year, I will continue the Bus News series on this blog, happily. Also I will be back for a while during Lewis's Absent. Lewis is still the head of the blog and any problems should be reported to him.

Sorry for the late bus news post, as it is mid-July and there hasn't been a edition for June.

Anyways, let's get on with the news:

Arriva London:
- 9 new T's for route 60 in Croydon have arrived WELL EARLY and have entered service before the 31st August date. These can be seen on 60 and 466.

Abellio London:
- For unknown reasons, 2 Tridents have transferred to WS for route 350. YN51 KVS has transferred.

- As shown in the "Changes In Kingston" post, K1 and K3 have passed to Abellio on the 29th June. Here are two photos provided by Lewis.

Transdev:
- 23 Volvo B5LH/ Gemini 2's for route 13, dubbed as VH, are now being delivered to Edgware (BT), due for start on 31st August 2013.

Metroline:

- LT's have entered service on route 24, leaving a number of surplus vehicles at HT. The 5 VWH's (1360-1364) will transfer to Willesden (AC) garage for route 52 between Willesden, Bus Garage and Victoria allowing 5 VW's off the 52 to transfer to AH. This will allow E8 to convert double-deck meaning the OTH will be withdrawn.

- More TE's (56/07reg) at Edgware (EW) are being refurbished. 2 photos are provided here on the left. I have to say, these buses are really smart and the cushioning on the seats are loaded to the max, very comfortable. They have retained the Esteban Civic V2 seating.

- Despite the fact Potters Bar (PB) lost route 626, Metroline have succesfully won the contract of route 634 from Arriva London using a existing bus (TP?). The bus is interlinked to work on 82 afterwards. Contract starts in September.

- DE's from route 245 will transfer to Perivale West (PA) for routes 90 and E6 (Partial allocation) allowing the DP's to retire from London operation and for a few more MM's to be withdrawn from service. This shows how boring Metroline are getting nowadays.

- TP433 has left Brentford (AH) garage. See Metroline West segment.

- It has just been announced that route 390 is due to receive LT's (New Buses For London). This is the second Metroline route, also from Holloway (HT) garage to be converted to Borismaster operation. It is due to convert early December.

London United RATP Group:
- It has just been announced that route 9 is to convert to Borismaster operation on the 26th October as I have just learnt today (7/08/13). This will allow the VLE's to be decomissioned and be sold to Ensignbus.

Metroline (West):
- Most buses now have the Metroline logos. LK59 FCP at Alperton (ON) still retains it's First Logos 2 months later....

- TP433 has transferred to Uxbridge (UX) for route U4 between Hayes, Prologis Park and Uxbridge Station. This bus is replacing TN33185 (LR02 LZE) which did not transfer to Metroline.

- As mentioned above in the Metroline panel, 24 has converted to LT operation leaving surplus VW's and VWH's. The VW's from route 24 will transfer to Alperton to help convert 245 to double-deck operation.

For photos of buses with Metroline logos, see bottom of the post.

Tower Transit:

- Like Metroline, Tower Transit have been applying logos to buses quite rapidly. They are retaining the First fleet system.

- Tower Transit, on the 6th July 2013, took over route 425 in East London using DN's. The buses have the First interior.

Quality Line:

- A prototype 10.5m Mercedes Benz Citaro has entered service, mainly for use on routes 465, 411 and X26.

Arriva The Shires:

- LJ58 AVU (Ex ENL11), is now 3811, and is now at Garston (GR), refurbished and is in service on the Edgware routes. Interestingly, the bus has the dayglow yellow blinds, from a Cadet or a Commander. Also 3812 and 3813 have entered service too. Post on this coming soon.

That's all for now, please stay safe and I hope you've enjoyed the post!

    1. I'm not sure. I'm thinking they probably will, I use 245 on a regular basis and I know what you mean, they are worn out and some sound rather foul.
