Know Your Routes: Route 324

YX11 GCK/ DE65 on route 324 to Brent Cross, Tescos. Yes, it is an odd working - From route 251. The buses on 324 are so unreliable that DE's actually now make frequent appearances on 324.

Although a North London route, the 324 is a recent addition to the bus industry as it was only created in 2010. The aim of the route was to connect passengers from Culver Grove/ St Andrew's Drive to Brent Cross and Stanmore.

To me, this seemed silly as it there was nearby routes 142 and 186 which connected you to Brent Cross which the two routes served with a higher frequency!

Although the route was opposed when TfL trialled the planned route, they still went ahead with it. Passengers of Culver Grove weren't too pleased about this route. Note down this shows how much TfL cares about the passengers!

Anyhow, the route is operated by Transdev from their BT garage in Edgware, using 8.9m E200's. The route must strictly use 8.9m behicles due to roads like Culver Grove being to skinny in width to accommodate the usual 10.2m ones.

The buses would run every 20 minutes during peak times and 30 minutes at other times. Although the route is only useful for serving Brent Cross, Tesco's, the 186 could have been extended there instead.

Transdev ordered only 7 buses and 6 would work the route Monday to Saturday and 4 working Sundays and evenings.

A rather short fleetlist it is:

YX60 BZA - SDE18
YX60 BZB - SDE19
YX60 BZC - SDE20
YX60 BZD - SDE21
YX60 BZE - SDE22
YX60 BZF - SDE23

Hopefully, you've enjoyed the post!
