Know Your Routes: Route 95

Ignore the date and time. It's wrong. DML44189/ YX11 CNN stands at Southall, Town Hall.
This post is actually dedicated to 2 people, as it was requested a while back. James Panaligan and Matt Seredyn, both current/former bloggers of the excellent WLTM blog. I hope you enjoy this post! Also, I haven't contributed a Know Your Routes post for a while so I decided to cough this one up.

Route 95 runs between Shepherd's Bush and Southall, Town Hall and is operated by First Centrewest from their Greenford (G) depot. The route uses Alexander Dennis Enviro 200 (DML) which are 10.2m in length.

The route starts at Southall, Town Hall then wanders around the residential Southall North before arriving at Ruislip Road. From here, the route heads towards Greenford Broadway, then followed the 92 to "Cowgate Road" where it then serves a rather long, and unique section down the A40/ Western Avenue whizzing past South Greenford, Perivale, Hanger Lane, Park Royal, North Acton Gypsy Corner, East Acton, White City Estate where it now departs Western Avenue to sprint past White City and to terminate at Shepherd's Bush.

It was a new route which replaced 105 between White City and Greenford Station.

The route used to run with MTL London, from their North Acton depot. Then, the base closed and the route moved from NA to HR, which is Harlesden.

Then Metroline won the contract for route 95 using Dennis Dart's which were 10.2m long.

This didn't last though, it was like this until 28th April 2006, where Metroline made their last appearance on route 95. This was because First were no match for Metroline as they scooped the contract for the 95 on April 29th 2006 operating the route from Alperton (ON) using Wright Eclipse Gemini 2's (VNZ's) which were 10.6m long. First were great fans of these double deckers.

First then transferred the allocation of route 95 to Greenford (G) and converted it back to single deck using Marshall Capitals (DML) which were 10.2m.

Not much had happened to the route, although in 2008 - There was a PVR (Peak Vehicle Requirement) rise and so the buses were more frequent. So buses now are every 12 minutes roughly.

In 2011, First had retained the contract for route 95 and they took this opportunity to get rid of the Marshall's and replace them with the best selling single deck, The Enviro 200.  These came as 11reg E20D.

Let's wrap it up with a fleetlist.
