  2. How about a post discussing the Scania N series with East Lancs Olympus bodywork as run on route 7. With there huge upper deck front window and better leg room these are my favourite buses at the moment but they never get a mention on the blogs.

    1. Hey K, I too do indeed love the East Lancs Olympus buses with the Scania N230UD chassis on route 7, for the same reasons you have stated and then also because of its agility and reactions - it can brake quickly and it can turn faster than any other vehicle in London, which is impressive considering its bulkiness. Expect an article on the buses next year.

  3. from reading the upcoming changes, are you stating that route 272 will be transferred from shepherds bush garage (S) to Park Royal (PK)? if this is the case then this add fuel to the garage rumours. From my understanding, we will get the E3 route in May to run out of Stamford Brook, Route 10 will be transferred to Shepherds Bush cause of space limitations (V), then at some point converted to new route masters like the 148 in Feb and finally move the 272 back to Park Royal. this all may give a reason why C1/272 duo rota has now split. what do you guys think, would love to hear feedback?

    1. I've made changes to the upcoming change, there will be no transfer. I am, for the moment, unfamiliar with route E3 but with Stamford Brook (V) at near full capacity and Shepherd's Bush (S) with more routes to operate, I'd assume Park Royal (PK) the ideal garage to be allocated to. Would also be nice to see Park Royal (PK) get a batch of hybrids as the aforementioned nearby garages already do.

I hope route 10 does not get Borismasters; as much as I favoured the conversion of route 9 out of all others, I like the current route 10 allocation and it's odd-working/night service hybrids and I'm disappointed with the fact that route 148 will be absent of conductors - it's just a waste of money for the introduction of these extremely expensive and now pointless Borismasters when the current Scania OmniCity buses on the route are of good condition, with the occasional likeable Alexander ALX400 and Alexander Dennis Enviro400 hybrid workings.

    2. I get the E3 quite often. I think at first it's gonna be quite wierd seeing Scania's running them although I like them. The Enviro's were really good for seating especially on the bottom deck when it came to the busy periods. I was kinda hoping they'd bring a patial allocation of these if anything like they do on 120.

  4. The route E3 runs from Chiswick through to Greenford Broadway with an ideal Driver change over point at Turnham Green Church, so it seems right for the route work out of Stamford Brook.
also if the route was to come to Shepherd's Bush, it could either share vehicles from the 94 (ADH) or if a conversion was to happen, LT's with the 148.
Im a Driver on the 148 and we have reputable people that board with fare evasion at a low, so drivers are quite annoyed with the fact of having no CSA's too, as it will damage the reputation of a high profile route. I sure hope TFL will realise this and act quickly to change it. one thing that has got my attention with the new Routemasters, the whole engine start procedure its absolutely ridiculous taking about 5 steps to start the bus where a Scania Omnicity takes two. You would think moving in to a modern era things will get simpler but the Borismater already fails at that.

    1. I'm not an expert at this sort of stuff, but I don't think the E3 will get some LT's. It's my local route and it goes through some pretty dull areas. I hope the E3 gets SP's though, because I love SP's and I'd love to see them everyday going along my main road. I've heard something about the E3 being run from Stamford Brook, the 391 and 419 moving to Fulwell and then the 71 moving to Tolworth. This seems like a mad idea because the 65/71's buses can't mix if this is to happen. I would run the E3 out of Stamford Brook and let the 27 move to Shepherds Bush so that the 27's and 94's ADH's can mix easily. If you think this is a nutty idea, please reply explaining why!!! LBOTG

  5. According to the Bus Forum, the 53 is getting all 32 of the Gemini 2 Hybrids that were meant to be for the 54 and 75 and the 54 and 75 is getting 32 of the Enviro 400 Hybrids that were meant to go to Plumstead (PD) garage, but the Bus Forum didn't mention anything about what's happening with the 96, 122 and 472, so don't change anything yet!

  6. To London Buses on the go, your dream may come true as i have been also told the Route E3 will get the SP's from the route 10, with this in mind does the ex E3 buses from enviros at Metroline get awarded to the Route 282?
i never meant to imply the route E3 will get LT's as they are aimed at high profile Central London routes just to clear up any misunderstanding from the previous post.

    1. Thanks, 148 Driver. If the E3's TE's go on to the 282, it makes sense although where will the rest of the bunch go? Replace TP's?

  7. Optare are supposed to be launching a new DD in May. Do you think any London bus operators will take any of these? Also, there new MetroCity is aimed at London market. Apart from Quality Line (Epsom), have you heard of any orders for these? Thanks

    1. A prototype of the new Wright Eclipse Gemini 3 bodywork based on a new Volvo B5TL chassis is at Go-Ahead London from Camberwell (Q) with another prototype for Metroline Travel arriving at Perivale West (PA) soon, so I would assume a prototype of the new Optare double-decker will be made for us before operators start ordering.

London United were supposed to have an Optare MetroCity on the road from back in December from Stamford Brook (V) but I don't know when it will arrive now. An Optare Solo SR was at Hounslow (AV) a few months ago for a few days; this is supposed to be linked to the garage receiving the Optare MetroCity, maybe even in a small batch.

  11. Isn't the S4 route run by Quality Line of Epsom Coaches Group? What would they do with the current Optare Solos on this route (YE52FHL-R)- (YN53SVP-R).

    ReplyDelete
  12. this is what i dont understand, it understand that S4 has been awarded to Abellio London, but in logistical Terms, it plain stupid to allocate the single deckers at Walworth when the route operates NO WHERE NEAR camberwell and that kind of areas. its a route that operates in the Sutton Borough, going through Belmont, Wallington etc. just imagine the journey each driver would have to make to get back to the Garage. its not sensible in my opinion

  24. That was one shocking tender result yesterday. Couldn't believe that LU lost the 57- felt the same when the 33 was snatched off LU to NCP only to return a few years later. Really hope that the 57 can return to LU one day. Also means the end of the TA's, and my favourite bus in the whole world, TA213, that overevving thrash is just amazing. Go ride it now (FW bus). But congrats for winning back the 85 and retaining all other routes. Now hoping that they can snatch back the 290 from Abelio.

    1. They are coming up in september'ish. I expect LU to win with existing buses (33 DE's once that gets converted to DD) or Metroline with new.

  29. Routes 195 and E6 have transferred to Greenford (G), with the buses released from E7/E9 running E6. The Metroline Travel DEs ex-E6 will be allocated to route 117 instead from Brentford (AH) meaning that no new buses are on order for route 117.

  33. Is anyone up for the idea that the 90 and 120 should be extended to Ruislip and if they withdraw the 82 service they should reintroduce it as a route from Ruislip to Watford via carpenders park

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm also thinking that thy could extend the u1 or create a u6/u8 to harrow via pinner and northwood hills doesn't matter if service is withdrawn from west drayton. Hopefully they extend u3 to Ruislip via Ickenham and west ruislip

  35. I only just noticed the possible route 316 extension up to Staples Corner in Brent Cross! This would be very convenient for shoppers. I'm also excited about the double-deckers that will be serving the route, hopefully E400Hs with not too many TAs!!
